New website goes live for ImageZ
I’m really happy to say that I am working on the new look ImageZ camera club website, this means that our members have a new and improved way to interact with the club and share ideas, information and find out what is going on. Also the new website should make it easier for people to find out if ImageZ is a camera club they would like to be part of.
Firstly I must thank Mike Bean for maintaining the previous website for many years, it’s quite a big task for one person and so with the new one we hope that more members will be interested to contribute ideas, articles or even just express there opinions in the comments sections available widely through the site and all the updates and news articles.
Don’t think you need to be a web wizard to contribute, if you can use a word processor then you can write articles for the site. The programme is now dynamic and gives much more information than ever before. Make sure to click those blue links for each meeting and a pop-up box will give more information about that meeting.
Filtering your comments
To keep the site work-safe and family friendly there’s a step called moderation that means any comments you, or anyone else makes, are vetted before publication, they don’t just appear after you click the button.
Your input
If you have something you want to share, then drop emails to myself, Stephen, Allan – find us on the About us page – and we’ll get it put up. If you have some ace pictures that you would let us share in the big spaces at the top of many pages then we are interested. Best if you resize them to be 960 pixels wide by 440 pixels high to fit in nicely. Also we want to introduce some members gallery pages, where you can have a page with your pictures, some information about you and links to your other online accounts be it facebook, twitter, flickr, your website or whatever.
Support ImageZ
You’ll see some boxes on the right hand side under the Support ImageZ title, if you click on the Amazon one for example then it will take you to the Amazon.co.uk home page and anything you buy the club will get a small percentage of what you spend, around 5%. We want to use this to enhance prizes and even purchase equipment for club members to use. There is NO additional cost to you to buy from Amazon this way, the link just tells Amazon that ImageZ directed you to their site and therefore we should be paid for opening the door. Be assured that we cannot see any financial information or who buys what. Even your family members & friends can buy through the links and the club gets a percentage.
The dropbox one will generate a referral and that means that the clubs’ dropbox account gets an additional 250MB of space, you also get the additional 250MB of space in your own account – you don’t need to do anything or share anything with the club using this.
If you find a local business that does a good deal for club members then we could expand this to link back to them too.
