On Sunday 15/April the CACC held it’s championships day, the chance for all of the 43 member clubs of the CACC to compete in several competitions as a club and as individual members of clubs.
There were two classes that ImageZ didn’t compete in this time, but I would like to see the club join in the future; the Open Print Championship and the Open Digital Championship. These are for a set of 15 images (each competition) that represent the club. For the 2012 event there were over 250 images shown in each competition that indicated at least 17 other clubs are competing. Next year the event will be held again in April with a deadline for entries being around mid-March 2013.
The judging of the pictures was carried out by a panel of three highly qualified judges from other regions of the country. Each judge has a small keypad with the numbers 1 to 5 on it, once the image is displayed the judges view it and score, the three judges scores are captured on a computer and recorded for each image to give a total score out of fifteen. The judges this year were Anne Sutcliffe FRPS, Roger Force FRPS DPAGB APAGB and Richard Walton FRPS MPAGB EFIAP.
Chiltern Hundreds Members Exhibition
In this event each member of a CACC member club is invited to submit one digital image for projection and scoring, this year there were also over 250 images shown in this competition. It must be said that several images had been seen in the club print and club open championship sections described above. Personally I felt a little bit jaded after seeing almost 800 images in a six hour period and some images three times, I don’t know how the judges cope.
ImageZ members who sent in entries for this were:
- Julia Cleaver
- Danny Ewers
- Fiona Ewers
- Sally Kilpin
- Sally Spence
- “Aussie” Allan Thomson
- John Timbrell
- & me
Unfortunately none of our entries received one of the main awards this time, but good scores were awarded to several of the entries. Many thanks to those who sent in entries for this competition.
