Hi Folks,
Last night it was a chance for our members to bring along their images for our experts to see and they could in turn make suggestions for improvements to them. There was a large turn out of members and we also had some new members joining the club which was brilliant so welcome to them.
The club had six tables set up, each having an expert with a laptop available to show what could be done with the images using software.
In the second half it was intended to show some of the examples on the projector with the before and after effect but with such large numbers of people it was decided to show the images on a later date
However that decision did allow us more time to discuss changes to a few more images.
I can not really comment on what was happening on the other tables but I certainly got some good advice from Allen on a few of mine that I had already made changes to for competition. Also a few of these just would not have the wow factor for a judge.
Just as a taste of the evening and as I do not have any other examples I am using one of my own images.
I took this image a couple of weeks ago and where ever I positioned myself to take the image there was either a ticket office, a toilet or a tree in the way but still liked the image enough to want to take it. I decided the tree would be the lesser distraction than the toilet block lol . I guess the more experienced photographers would still come up with another angle that I missed.
However, I was going to take it and a have a crack at getting rid of the tree later using my new ON1 software
So these would be the sort of errors or improvements being made by our experts, especially a tree growing out of the statue’s head lol
Anyway my efforts of sorting it
However, Allen did take the image to yet another level by selecting the HDR mode which certainly makes one think of other different options available.
Anyway, it was a good evening
with lots of discussions going on, even with a coffee.
Thank you to Chenxi for providing all the photographs (apart from my coffee one which is not as sharp) lol.
Next week is split into three events so hope to see such a big turn out next week.

Mobile Devices – Are they useful for more than selfies?
Tuesday October 17, 2017 from 20:15 to 22:15
Very few (if any of us) don’t have a camera in our pocket or in arms reach all day every day. It’s in our phone. So are we making the best use of them? Even when you have your “real” camera with you, are you utilising the additional opportunities the camera or “app” functionality your phone or mobile device brings you?
Your chairman will be presenting a personal perspective on the various was he makes use of mobile technology in his photography day to day.
***If you would like to present anything on your use of the camera or functionality within your phone (or tablet), please let Chris know as it will embellish the evening if members get to hear more than one perspective***
