I have two images of birds I have been photographing in the garden. One image was a big surprise so I grabbed the camera and got a lucky shot, and the other one was fledging of the Great Tits which I did expect and was lucky to get.
Sharing the bath water
I was working at the kitchen sink when I saw these two pigeons sitting in our bird bath. The back one was actually having a bath while the front one was just sitting in the water cooling his feet down as it was very hot day. I got my camera, went upstairs to the bedroom and took the image through the window. The front bird shut his eyes and seemed to fall asleep for a while. When they flew away most of the bath water had gone, but at least they had the chance to have a bath and cool off in the sunshine.
Newly fledged
The second image with the “cute” factor was one of one several great tits which were nesting in our garden. I am not sure how many birds there were, I saw one leave the nest the previous day, and this little one fledged the following morning. Unfortunately he dropped down into a pile of rubble in the corner of the garden. I took a number of images of him as he moved around a small area before one of his parents came back to feed him, and they both flew off. Today I saw three baby great tits on our bird feeders, so I suspect one of them might be the one that I photographed.
