Tuesday night saw another of the popular ‘It’s a Knockout’ competitions.
Members could enter up to four entries each. Pairs of images would be displayed side-by-side on-screen, and the members in the hall voting for their favourite of the two. The past two years this It’s a Knockout competition was held on zoom, this year we were back to the old fashioned ‘show of hands’ way of voting.
There were 115 images entered in the competition, which would mean a total of seven rounds would be require to get to a single winner. The first round required quick decisions as the images weren’t shown for very long. Further rounds gave more time to deliberate – Giving ‘ditherers’ more time to dither! Competition was strong and varied with some close calls where the show of hands had to be recounted, several times with just one point difference.
There was no shame to be knocked out in the first round as potentially the best two images (subjectively) of the whole entry could come up up against each other in this round.
Below are the eight images that made it all the way to the last few rounds, with the eventual winner being Amanda Hawes with her picture titled “Red Fox in Winter”. Runner up was Patrick McCarthy with Silhouette on a Blue Lake.
Huge congratulations must go to Amanda Hawes on scoring a hat trick, as she’s won the last three knockout competitions we have run. A wonderful accolade from fellow peers. Below are the posts from the previous knockout competitions.
