Tuesday evening began with our Print Round with a small entry of four Prints.
Less is more as the saying goes, the prints were amazing. Our Judge Peter Prosser from Watford Camera Club gave praise for the images which featured a mono of Stonehenge with a crowd looking at the stones, this had cleverly been presented as though it had been taken in the nineteen-forties. Another image of a single Rosehip had a painterly look with a cracked and muted background like an oil painting Another image showed a row of flowers described by Peter as “standing upright like soldiers.” The Image that won was a powerful image of two Red Kites mating, with wonderful detail and texture in their feathers set against a blue sky.
The results were as follows:
- 1st David Gibbs — Red Kite (Milvus Milvus) – Painterly Photography
- 2nd Steve Allsop — Winter Rosehip
- 3rd Sam Knight — Stone Marking Millenia
Thirty- four PDI’s were entered for this competition. There were a wide variety of Landscapes, Wildlife, Portraits, Abstracts, Street Photography and Seascapes. The standard was extremely high. Peter gave an interesting and informative critique on all and held back many images. He took time deciding which images should receive a commended award, a Highly commended award and, First, Second and Third position.
The results were as follows:
- 1st Damon Mitchell — Let Me Tell You a Secret
- 2nd Stuart Craig — Eloise
- 3rd John Timbrell — Blue Dome
- Highly Commended — Alun Morgan — Koi Carp
- Highly Commended — Andrew Nobbs — On the Snow Train
