About

Andy has been interested in photography for a “number” of years, possibly kindled from having won his first photographic competition at the tender age of 12 using a 110 camera.  Not long afterwards, he inherited a Praktica SLR – this led to various experiments in astrophotography (primarily the Moon, Saturn and Jupiter), colour film processing and random shots of his cat.

All went quiet for a few years until about 2001 when he bought a Fujifilm Finepix 6900Zoom bridge camera. Again, lots of random cat images, but not much in the way of composition or control. This changed in 2006 on discovering Flickr, and subsequently Imagez. The flame was reignited. Subsequently, a Canon DSLR has been acquired and a (very) slowly increasing number of attachments.

Lately, he spends most of his time either at work, or with his wife and two children.  This leaves little time for photography, but he still attempts to tinker from time to time – the cat photos have made way for child portraits.  His style is presently classed as “random”, although he has a keen interest in cinematography and hopes one day to develop a suitable style to match.
