Hi Folks,
Well having been away I missed the Treasure Hunt Night where I understand club members had to solve various clues to get to locations and then take photographs of certain things on the way. I am told it was great fun and Annie the organiser, has a second Treasure Hunt ready for next year. So thank you Annie and all her helpers for making the evening a success.
Well as most of you are aware, I came back from our holiday to find I had to have an operation on my arm. However, two hours into my op I realised I hadn’t lost any of my competitive edge when I found I was asking the surgeon cutting away on my arm, as to whether I was allowed to lift my camera on Tuesday night. Well you can’t have Steve getting more practise than me lol.
Not being allowed to drive, Des kindly took me to the event which was being held on our club member David’s farm.
It had turned out to be the hottest night for some years, as members gathered in the car park and refreshments had been kindly laid on
There were two models Emma, Lauren-Christina and about fifty cows to photograph.
Brian arranged the lighting in a barn to photograph one of the two models and the Canon team members were put in competition against ‘the Nikon and the rest of the world’ (which included my little Panasonic lol).
The Nikon team chose to take their model Emma to a little bridge spanning a small stream at the edge of a field
whilst fifty on looking cows wanted more of my attention.
As the blogger, I hovered between the two teams
and actually thought the Nikon team had managed to get the perfect light setting using the sunlight.
with the sunlight making a nice glow around the hair
But of course the judge would think different to me lol
So with our team using various silver and gold reflector screens. I must say I was really pleased with the setting and the quality of the photographs that came from it.
This was using a silver reflector
Then it was changed to a gold screen
and what a difference it made
Later the two teams met up and Lauren-Christina the Canon model for the night changed dresses
meanwhile, a club member was demonstrating an easy way of cropping pictures
Whilst Steve tempted model Lauren-Christina to sit comfortably (lol) on some logs.
Here I tried something different adding weeds into the foreground
It all turned out to be a lovely social evening and probably the best model shots that I have ever taken. The evening ended with a sunset, however judges don’t like my sunsets, so now I’m into taking flowers lol
On the way out we pointed out to Chenxi that there was a full moon coming up and perhaps an opportunity to have an eagle in the foreground but he said, “he has had enough of full moons, as the judges don’t seem to like those either” lol
Thank you to both models and David and his wife for allowing us to shoot pictures on their farm
So the next meet up is on August 2nd ‘Shoot at the top’ where we are invited up to the top of the council buildings and by the title to shoot as many Aussie Drones as we can.
