Photography News Camera Club of the Year
The last judged round of this competition was Fantastic Light. I regret that I was a bit late submitting the entries and, in fact, I missed the deadline! I had selected five images with the help of Nick Bennett but was not able to get them judged officially. However, I contacted three respected judges (Chris Palmer, John Credland and Julia Cleaver) and asked them to give a score out of 20 as if judging at Rosebowl level. I then averaged out the scores of the judges so that we have something to compare against the list that will be printed in Photography News. As it turns out, we would have ended up roughly where we have been in the previous rounds – ie in 7th place or thereabouts.
The images for submission and judges as above were Travelling through Time by Chris Andrews (17), Sunset in the Desert by Derek Green (16), River Lights by Kathy Chantler (17), Starry Night by Chenxi Ni (19) and Gilda by Steve Beckett (19); the averaged scores by the independent judges are in brackets.
What we have achieved in our first attempt at this national competition is incredible so a spur on to make the effort individually for the good of the collective whole.
