ImageZ Club Challenge Trophy #3
Tuesday 15th
February Attendees: 30
Last night was a challenge as our topic for the themed section was Technology and this led
to some particularly good interpretations of the subject.
The evening began with the themed section which had twenty-nine images entered by
members, then after a short break the Open section began which had twenty-six images
entered by members. Fifty-five images in total for our judge to critique.
Pat Couder our judge from South London Photographic Society, who herself only brought
her first DSLR in 2007 and has been passionate about photography ever since said,
‘that her only regret is not discovering photography as her creative outlet sooner.’
Pat gave a very fair and well detailed critique on all of the images presented by club members
with useful advise for each entrant. She noted that Technology was a particularly difficult
subject to interpret but that the club had produced a varied and good representation of the
category, offering encouragement and praise.
This is the third round of the club challenge leaving a further two rounds to go. Scores are
added together for entrants of their two best scores for each round until an overall winner
with the highest score takes the trophy.
Pat held a number of images back in the Technology subject until she awarded these scores
to the following:
20 points – Attention-Sucking Power of Technology by Chenxi Ni (1st
Choice)
20 points – Shrinking Technology by Chris Andrews
19 points – Tied to Technology by Chenxi Ni
18 points – Evolution of Light by David Gibbs
Again, Pat held a number of images back until she chose the following Open images:
20 points – Please, No Mother-In-Law Jokes by Peter Carter (1st
Choice)
19 points – Heavy Heart by Kes Ward
19 points – Ready to Fight by Chenxi Ni
19 points – Whirling Dervish by David Gibbs
18 points – Another World by Kes Ward
18 points – The Cascade, Virginia Water by Caroline Petch
The evening was a very enjoyable with the usual high standard of images presented
throughout the evening.
Thank you to Pat for her excellent comments which gave authors great advice to work with
for the improvement of images and her kind comments throughout.
