After one postponement earlier in the summer due to forecast bad weather, 6 Imagez members and one guest (my daughter!) met at Liverpool Street station for the London Greenwich photowalk.
We started by taking the Elizabeth Line to Excel where we found photo opportunities at the Royal Victoria Docks, especially from the footbridge which gives elevated views towards City Airport, Canary Wharf and the city beyond it. After a short walk, we took the cable car across to North Greenwich, always a great photo opportunity for views of the O2 and area generally.
Off the cable car, we took a walk around the O2 on the Olympian Way. There are a series of art installations on this path together with views across the river, including the docklands developments of the Canary Wharf area. By the time we’d done the “lap” consensus said it was time for lunch.
Lunch done, we took the Uber boat from North Greenwich to Cutty Sark and managed to get seats outside on the back of the boat, more photo opportunities. We disembarked and headed for the classic buildings of Greenwich. It’s always a popular spot for tourists and Londoners but patience will get you people free shots if you want. We headed into the Queens House for photos of the famous spiral staircase and then out and then walked up to the Royal Observatory to get what I think is one of the best viewpoints of London. Photos taken, we found the Greenwich Meridian line before descending the hill and a much needed drink!
With different travel options available, group consensus was to take the boat again which we did back to Tower Bridge. It’s a great way to get a different perspective on the city.
With legs tired, we all then headed back for home.
Thanks to Ken, Steve, Lynn. Miriam and Andrew for joining the walk.
