Club Challenge Round 4

Last night Club Challenge Round Four took place at ImageZ.
Mark Buckley-Sharp our judge travelled with his wife Judy from Harrow to be with us. There were two halves the, first with a theme of Exits and Entrances and the second an Open round for prints.

There were twenty- two entries in the themed round and sixteen in the Print round.

Mark began by saying he felt competitions were for education and learning. He would base his judgment on compliance with the theme, and the art and craft of the photographer. The art is what we choose to photograph, and the craft is how we do it.

There were some magnificent entrances such as The Old Nunnery, (Paul Bentham) and Cliveden Gold Andew Nobbs, a creative funny image The Quick Escape, Tony Cashen) a topical image with HS2 green tunnel entrance and exit (Martin Hommel) and a peer through the gate with the Secret Garden. Not forgetting an image of a stately room full of pictures with an integral door and a ghostly female figure humorously titled Whistler your mother is looking for you. (Derek Green.)

Well, done to those members.

After break, the open round which was a print competition was given critique and scores.

The print subjects varied and included Family Brunch (John Timbrell), a great street capture, two derelict ships showing rugged textures in Ships Graveyard (Kathy Chantler,) two contrasting portraits Kiri (Stuart Craig) and Michelle (John Benham), and an amazing wildlife picture showing a Jaguar attacking a Caimon taken in the Pantanal, titled The Kill.
