We have finally come to the end of the club challenge and last night there were many images of a high standard entered in the Monochrome and open sections.
During the first half of the evening with a theme of Monochrome, this produced historical buildings, Brutalist buildings, Portraits, Landscapes, Still life, London Scenes, Woodland scenes, and Moonscapes.
Our judge Damon Guy gave very thorough critiques to each individual Image, looking at composition, depth of field, impact, texture, and lighting. He spent time on every image noting different things. There were twenty-seven entries and Damon held back six images and here are the final results:
- Brian Worley – Portrait of a Gentleman – 20 – Judges Choice
- Paul Benham – In Reflection – 20
- Ayshe Denton – Trust – 19
- Martin Hommel – Moonscape Forest – 19
During the second half of the evening the Open section there were equally good images. Twenty-six entries gave Damon a particularly good amount to choose from.
Again, he studied each image looking at the power of the image, the detail and where the viewers eye would fall, as well as again composition, lighting, and depth of field.
There were a variety of excellent Wildlife images plus many Portraits and Creative images.
At the end of the evening the results were as follows:
- Damon Mitchell – Golden Passage – 20 – Judges Choice
- Godfrey Clements – The Farrier – 20
- Brian Worley – Let me think about that – 20
- Derek Green – The Wendover canal catch – 19
- Steve Gunn – Down the Hatch – 19
- Caroline Petch – Family Bond – 19
Well done to Brian Worley who scored two twenties for the top marks of the evening.
Well done to all above.
Thank you to Damon for his excellent and insightful judging of this competition.
