Last night was the opening event of the summer season for the camera club.
One of our members Neil offered to host a barbeque at his place and around thirty club members came along.
However, during the day there were thunderstorms and even floods in London, which got me wondering if it would take place, as more rain had been forecast.
A canopy had been erected for the evening and fortunately the rain held off.
Sausages and burgers were provided for all but I will tell you a little more about that as the evening went on.
Now I have listened to people through out the winter season talking about taking pictures in raw to get best results. Only having a point and shoot camera I decided to put it into intelligent mode and there, you can’t get it any rawer than that lol
So with lips licking, we all waited in anticipation
For Neil to work his magic on the barbeque
Whilst the rest of us chatted on various topics of interest, sport, holidays and even perhaps (like me) discussing how to take next year’s gold camera trophy from Steve ( but not with this light setting) lol
Meanwhile, Neil to complete his Master Chef challenge, had to cook for 30 odd hungry guests
There were chicken kebabs, veggie burgers, burgers, sausages, corn on the cob and jacket potatoes all had to come together on time without burning
whilst I tried to explain to a member how I am now managing to take flowers and blurring the background.
See I just need to take another 100 photographs of it to get the rose in focus and I’m sorted
Under the canopy there were various other dishes of pizza, cheeses, salads and rolls to add to your plate
and to fill us up more various deserts, sweets and cakes came out
followed mysteriously by some hot chocolate sauce, which I wasn’t sure was to be a baked potato dip
it had been a super evening and the rain held off
and as always looking for that unusual angle, I noticed Neil had left a sausage burning probably as a sacrifice to the gods for keeping the rain away
notice how I also made a portrait picture of one of our members on the right lol
Our new club chairman Chris thanked Neil and other members for the efforts they put into making the first summer meet up a lovely evening
and as the evening finished, the first spots of rain appeared which then turned into heavy rain, so well missed lol
Thank you again to Neil for a lovely evening, well he did give me an extra sausage to write a good review,
So five stars to Neil lol
I just wanted to say that as a fairly new member of the club how much I enjoyed the BBQ. I had the chance to speak to a lot of people, so it was great socially for me to get to know more about them and the club.
I also wanted to thank Neil and other members and his friends there, who put a lot of work into making it such a good evening. We were very lucky that the weather stayed good for us.
Thanks Derek. Always love reading your humorous blogs.
