Camera Club of the Year 2017-18
Thanks to all those who submitted images to me for consideration for the next round of Camera Club of the Year.
We did very well in Round 2, our first attempt, coming 6th in the listings and not that many points behind the top scorers. I was quite surprised at how tough the judges of this contest are – think Rosebowl but tougher! The five images I submitted had all scored 20 in other competitions and been highly praised; this time the same images scored a mere 17 or 18. In the light of this knowledge I had to be as tough as I could be to choose five images – time will tell whether I have it right.
So the five selected and submitted for THE DECISIVE MOMENT were:
As it turns out, the results have just been published and we were again placed 7th, although above any other ‘local’ club with only a few points fewer than the lead club.
The next round has the theme of Fantastic Light so please get looking and shooting. Any light that is exceptional can be considered – studio or natural. Images have to be submitted by March 7th and I will need time to consider the options along with Nick Bennett, who will be helping me with the selection.
If you have any images you think might be suitable please send them to me as soon as possible – they do need to be of the 19/20 scoring level in normal competitions; it really will be great if we have lots to choose from.
And while you’re looking through your files or planning your shoots, the last round for a place in the finals has the theme of Natural Beauty but that’s for later submission.
