Hi Folks,
Last night the camera club members visited Stowe and we were given an exclusive evening to take pictures in the grounds. About twelve members joined up at the official designated car park for what turned out to be a lovely evening of photography.
We first encountered a temple called the statues of the worthies which looked as if they could be our judges for next season’s competitions lol
Notice the curve coming in from the right
On the hillside was a Gothic temple building built in 1741 as a folly, said, to be haunted and four rooms can be hired for a holiday. I can not find any ghost stories attached to the place so just tales created from a creepy looking building
Now where can we hold the next AGM
We made our way to the Palladian bridge, a covered grade 1 listed bridge built in 1738; attributed to James Gibbs, situated in the south east corner of the pleasure grounds.
On a normal tourist day it would be almost impossible to photograph without somebody leaning over the side.
And here we had it to ourselves
another building over the lake
Chris on the other side getting that winning shot
Now in which week of competition are you two going to show the same bridge lol
The Gothic building with the path on the right leading the eye towards it
Just edging myself towards the reeds but trying not to do a Lawrence and fall in lol
Brian getting a closer look.
Not sure who this handsome member is, as he has his back to us.
Oh it’s only me, thank you Brian you could have cloned out my stomach lol
That’s better Brian after that brisk walk I have got a bit fitter. Who said the camera never lied lol
So now club members having a free range of the estate and river
Ok this is the nearest to the lake I can get and the reflections in the water are great
Flowers are about and currently love taking them
An archway with texture but nobody to sit down and make an interest
The Gothic temple bordered by trees
Brian at this point helped a member struggling to get the focus on her camera. Brian changed the eye piece settings and the pictures became sharp, the member was delighted and that is what these evenings are about to help other members.
My Monet picture
using flowers for interest in the foreground
not quite the poppy fields but was now on my hands and knees to get this. Brian helped me up again so still ok lol
As the time came to an end we had a long walk back via the Gothic building and meeting a man with his dog he said, the four rooms for hire were in the tower.
Would you spend the night in there
and we saw badger’s on the way but Chris and Lawrence got lost
but all was well after Sarah took her car down the road to try and meet them
but of course they came along the road from an opposite direction lol.
An enjoyable meet up

What a great evening you all had. I was really sorry to miss that one. Thanks to Sarah for making it possible.
