ImageZ Club Night – An Evening of Two Halves
19th October — 24 Participants
In the first half of the evening, we watched a Power-point put together by Carol introducing the work of Martin Parr CBE. Martin is a photographer who has documented the change of mainly British society over forty years, by his photographs and documentaries.
His photographs, often humorous and quite satirical, are often printed in loud contrasting colour and featured the ways of living of very rural communities in the nineteen seventies, mass tourism in the eighties and nineties, and global consumerism up to the modern times. Martin has been a subject of “Imagine” the programme hosted by Alan Yentob and was awarded a CBE in 2021 for his services to photography.
The PowerPoint provoked conversation about recording the changes in our society and projects that might be good to start. Chris mentioned the change that will happen with filling stations, as electric cars become more popular. The disappearance of British pubs was also mentioned.
During the second part of the evening Chris talked about ‘Getting colour space right for competitions.’
Typically, SRGB is the correct colour space to use in competition but if it is a print competition Adobe RGB will give a better colour.
Chris has put together a power-point and simplified a complicated subject.
These subjects were recorded and if you want to revisit them or see them for the first time look on the Imagez website under Members Area.
