Imagez – Best of the Best
16/5/23
This week the club celebrated the “Best of the Best” competition when all entries that have either scored a nineteen or twenty throughout the year in all our competitions compete.
As you can imagine the standard of images was extremely high.
Our judge for the evening Cat Humphries did a splendid job giving positive and helpful critique in her energetic and insightful way.
She made the evening very entertaining.
We had two rounds the Themed and Open.
The themed competition came first.
Cat held back many images but managed to whittle this down to seven images.
All the members then voted by putting the seven in order first to last. This was then handed in and collated by David and Caroline, both who did an amazing job in a short time. The results were as follows:
First Chenxi N Devil’s Tears
Second Peter Carter Protected by the Herd
Third Kathy Chantler into the Light
Commended Steve Beckett Strider
Commended John Timbrell Silhouette on the Steps
Commended Chenxi Ni Going up or Going Down
Commended David Gibbs Patterns in Refracted Glassware with Reflections.
The Open round continued in the same manner with Cat holding back seventeen images which then on a second viewing became seven.
The same process followed and once again David and Caroline added up the scores for the winner.
They were as follows:
First Chenxi Ni Bursting Bubble
Second Kes Ward This View Never Gets Old.
Third Chenxi Ni Flamingo
Commended Steve Allsop Splashing out.
Commended Derek Green Coming in from the Sun.
Commended Brian Worley Have I Got Your Attention
Commended Barry Coxon Top up.
Chenxi was the overall winner scoring first place in both sections and a third place.
Very well done to Chenxi.
Kathy has been our Chairman for five years, throughout the difficult time of Covid. She has taken the club from strength to strength with her positive ideas and amazing energy. She is now standing down from that role. She has handed the job over to Caroline Petch who will start in September. The members presented Kathy with a bouquet of flowers and Chris Andrews said a lovely thank you to Kathy on behalf of all the members.
Next Week is our final Meeting at Queens Park Arts Centre . Please note we will start at 7pm and finish at 9 pm.
