Neil explained that at college he had studied documentary photography, and four main points had been important. He explained that attention to small detail, the wider picture, connection, and portraits were paramount when showing a story in photographs.
Neil said he would arrive at eight in the morning when preparation for the Wimbledon day was busy and explore the areas to get his images.
His detailed pictures showed us the strawberries in glass dishes with the labels of Wimbledon Strawberries made a good image giving a sense of place as well as a tennis ball by the white line with Wimbledon twenty twelve printed on the ball.

He also explained that he tried to get images of a number of courts with action in each court to capture the atmosphere of the place and give a sense of scale.

Neil had wonderful shots of the Williams sisters together, and Nadal signing autographs holding the Wimbledon men’s finals cup after winning it.
The presentation kept us all fascinated giving an insight into the parts of Wimbledon not always seen. The images and Neil’s commentary bought the story to life.
Thank you for a great evening.
