Hi Folks,
We had a really interesting and competitive night on Tuesday night where four teams of two were sent to Haddenham, Towersey and Dinton armed with many clues to solve. At Towersey on two of the clues we had to look for things like a sly planet and who we needed to contact to get into the belfry. The whole event had been organised by Chris’s wife and marshalled by Chris on the evening.
Some of the answers were fairly easy
Others had us looking on grave stones, bus stops and the most unlikely places. Who we needed to contact to get in the belfry had us looking in the church doorway but failing to see anything. There seem to be some sort of service going on but peering our heads around the door it was a christian pop group. They help us out as they knew where the belfry was and looking up on the ceiling the notice was there lol
Other clues had us struggling, as my partner was convinced the Carron company made cast iron and we looked at every drain cover in Towersey
Time was pressing and we had to get to Haddenham
to find where Haley Hewitt worked
and where we could find a Canadian cherry
Time was pressing and we had to be back at the five bells by 9:30pm or lose marks. It started to rain about 9:05pm and we decided to run with the marks we had and just miss out Dinton.
Whilst Brian & Peter had got to Dinton on time and grabs some more marks. Poor team Dawn failed to finish travelling in their open top car but I assume they dried out afterwards.
Meanwhile, marking took place and Brian & Peter ended up the winners. There was a prize in Chris’s car boot but it was not possible to get to it as the heavens had opened. We all literally ran for the cars in the car park to get home.
A very good evening and a big thank you to Chris’s wife and Chris for spending so much time organising it all.
PS please contact Chris if you would like a sheet to try it on your own
Derek
