Photography News Camera Club of the Year
I have just entered our final five images into the last of the qualifying rounds for this competition. Thank you so much to all those who have taken the trouble to let me have images for consideration. It has not been an easy task. The standard to get to the top position is extremely high. Looking at all the past entries from clubs nationwide, most seem to score 15 or 16 for their individual entries; to get to the top spots, there need to be some higher scores and we have been close!
The rounds so far have placed us round about 7th in the list with often very few more points needed to get closer to the top – as a relatively small club and inexperienced in this type of arena we have done very well indeed. We will learn from what we have achieved this year and benefit from this experience.
However, one more round still to be judged and, this time, I am ahead of the game and the entry is is place ahead of the deadline! as before, five images were selected from five different members on the theme of Natural Beauty. All the themes have been very broad but, with this one, it could be almost anything. Nick Bennett helped me with the selection and I’ll attach the five that have been uploaded for consideration – I am optimistic!

Update on Scores for Round 5:
As you know already, ImageZ was only a couple of points short of equal 1st. I now know the individual scores for the five images: Sunset by Nick Bennett – 17, Lakeland Landscape by Clive Hurst – 18, Swans by Kathy Chantler – 19, Red Riding Hood by Steve Beckett – 16, and Two Flamingos (not shown here) by Chenxi Ni – 16.
We have done very well for our first year of entering and will continue into the next year – more about themes just as soon as I find out.
