Ten ImageZ members boarded the train for Birmingham on Sunday 20th August for a day discovering the Street Art of the Digbeth district.
There was a whole variety of wall art murals tempting everyone to pause and see what images could be created – we even met one of the artists who declined to be photographed! So much dereliction and degradation everywhere providing a sharp contrast between this and the next-door shopping centre with its modern architecture. We also saw the Curzon Street area where HS2 will terminate – another state of mess and dereliction. Throughout the day the group roughly together, stumbled across an Abba singalong festival as well as a wall made from crushed cars. Plenty of photographic opportunities as well as time to chat and socialise; Brian even managed a quick ‘Canon Workshop’ on one street corner!!
Some members carried on after a food/coffee break and walked to the Canal area – very busy and such a contrast to Digbeth – before heading for the train home. A selection of images from the day added below.
So, the ImageZ summer season draws to a close and we look forward to starting the new season in the hall on Tuesday 12th September, where we hope to see some images created through the summer. Do check deadlines on the calendar for entering your images into the ABC’s of Aylesbury and Chairmans Challenge so we can share them with the members on the first night back.
