Tuesday 9th April 24
Some weeks ago, we were given a location; Thame, to go and explore and to take photographs under four themes. There were Closed, Open, Old, and New. Easy you may think, but was it?
Our avid members trooped in their hoards to Thame in between large bouts of rain and storms.
Thame has many historical buildings, Churches, the River Thame, a regular market, and its claim to fame a house that was owned by Robin Gibb member of the Bee Gees Band, and now sadly his grave in the church yard. It is still decorated by loyal fans. His younger brother Andy Gibb is also buried in the same graveyard.
Last evening we joined together to look at the interpretations of the four themes that our members had entered, each member could enter only three of the four themed sections. Colin Mill from Milton Keynes judged the four categories. All entries received points and Colin gave a particularly good critique of each one offering advice on improvements and kind words on all. The points were added together, and the overall winner was Tami Nunley.
The Closed category offered firmly closed doors, shops that had closed down, and three members had photographed large iron gates that were closed and said Private leading to the Alms houses from different perspectives.
The Open category showed Open windows, doors, gates, cafes, and shops. The New category offered Daffodils, A new statue in the Memorial gardens, and many pictures with New in the title.
The Old category featured Gravestones, the Boundary railings over the river Thame, old shoes, an old aeroplane, and the reflection in a window of an old building.
