Welcome back to ImageZ Camera Club and Happy New Year to all.
Last night we welcomed two of our resident Judges, Kathy and Alan both who have been members of ImageZ for many years to give an Informal Critique of a number of images entered by our club members.
Many people attended despite awful weather, and we had a total of sixty-two images.
Kathy gave a brief introduction discussing the things a photographer should consider before taking a picture.
- Why am I doing this?
- What is my quality of light?
- Where will the viewers eye rest?
- What is the focus point of my picture?
- What is in the background of my image?
Many things to consider when going out to shoot a scene.
Whilst viewing the images Kathy and Alan suggested that certain subjects are extremely popular and it is beneficial to look at creative and different ways to present them.
There were useful suggestions to improve images and here are a few to consider, taken from images presented.
- The crop tool is one of the best tools to use. Look at your image are you trying to leave too much in when there is a good story in a small part of the picture.
- Try Black and White this adds texture.
- See if your background gives context especially in Wildlife images.
- Can you move around to give your image a more dynamic composition.
- When photographing models make sure, they look comfortable, lighting is correct, and hands look elegant.
Below is a selection of the images entered for critique.
The evening passed quickly and was highly informative and useful.
Thank you to Kathy and Alan.
