About

Hi! I’m a keen amateur nature photographer based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and have been taking photography seriously for about 4 years now. It all started when I was studying Art and Design at college way back in 1996. Back then, I was the proud owner of a Pentax K1000 and would get through black and white film like no tomorrow! It was highly addictive for me, and the fact that I could also process my own film and develop prints in the college darkroom had me hooked. After graduating, I am sorry to say that photography fell by the wayside, and even though I still took holiday snaps and the odd photos of friends and family, the excitement of photography left me :o (

When my husband Danny, took up photography and bought his first DSLR back in 2007, I soon caught the bug again, and by 2008 I had my own DSLR. I have never looked back since, and surprisingly, after a 6 year break, getting back into it has been like riding a bike! I have embraced digital completely, and love the diversity and creativity it brings (without the possibility of ruining a whole film), but one day I hope to have the money and time to build a darkroom, as nothing beats the smell of developing chemicals!!

If I had to sum up “my style of photography” in just a few words, I would have to say naturally quirky, trying to be that little bit different with a keen eye for detail, especially when out and about in the countryside. Oh no, hang on, that’s describing me!! Which I guess is good, as I have always seen photography as an extension of myself!

My main interests within nature photography are butterflies and wildflowers, but I will turn my hand to photographing anything. I’m actually really enjoying being part of the ImageZ Studio Workshop, and have learnt loads about lighting and posing a model, something which I hope to teach the butterflies in the Summer!
