In Derek’s absence I’m giving a brief blog on this evenings club night.
Our guest presenters for the evening were Kingsley and his wife Amy from KUKU Media, based in Milton Keynes. The evening was to be split in two halves, the first in the hall and then a practical outside. As instructed everyone came well prepared with cameras and tripods, and well wrapped up against the cold of the evening!
Kingsley started off with a brief explanation of how he got into photography. He’d been extremely ill and had to give up his job. Amy was getting impatient with him sitting round the house and bought him a bridge camera. This was in 2011. he’s always been interested in the sky and constellations, so he headed out and took a picture of the sky at night. He shared this picture with us, it was, er? ‘Nice’? He then took us through his journey, the amazing photos of the milky way, the moon, landscapes at night, light trails and a series of time lapse photography. WOW! Stunning.
A quick cup of tea and we then headed outside, Kingsley spun lit wire wool in a little kitchen whisk, Amy created colourful patters with a lit sabre. We were stood in a line and I had to laugh as I heard the explanations of delight down the line as the images came through on the back of the cameras! Kingsley and Amy were very patient and helpful with our camera settings. Not easy as it was pitch dark out there. And a variety of cameras.
I’ve added a few of my images to give an idea of what we got up to …..
Amy and Kingsley perform together!
Amy creates swirls.
The spectacular burning wire wool spun by Kingsley.
The evening was very enjoyable even though my shoes got a little muddy!
Kingsley and Amy run various workshops in the Milton Keynes area, I’ve attended a few and have always found them to be as patient and good fun as they were this evening. Thank you Kingsley and Amy for sharing your journey with us.
