This week’s ImageZ meeting welcomed Drew Burnett from Wild Eye Photos.
Drew gave us a presentation of his Wildlife photography taking us around the world with an array of animals he has photographed. Drew is a professional wildlife photographer who photographs animals and birds for commercial purposes. As he said when he began his talk ‘cute and cuddly’ are the most popular images that sell very well.
Drew’s advice to us was ‘Enjoy taking photographs because you like them.’
We certainly liked his photographs and the passion he has for his art came across not only in his photography but also in his presentation with an enthusiasm for travelling, a love of animals, and some knowledge he shared with us about the animals he had photographed.
We enjoyed vast amounts of amazing images capturing King Penguins, Elephants, Tigers, Leopards, Monkeys, Owls, Eagles, Hares Snow Leopards Red Pandas and many more. Drew added details on the animal’s behaviour, how the shots were taken and how to study your subject. He spoke often of taking time to get to know the animals’ habits, behaviours, and body language. Drew explained that you must capture the animal in the first few seconds when it spots you, to get the best photo.
He also talked to us about the locations he had travelled to for each animal including China, the Falklands, Borneo, and Norway to name but a few.
Drew spoke with humour and made his presentation very entertaining, informative, and interesting.
The evening was certainly extremely popular with our members and the wonderful photographs, along with hints and tips on Wildlife Photography kept us spellbound for the whole evening.
You can see some of his images below.
We would like to thank Drew for a fabulous evening.
